How-to Track Web Forms in Wix

May 03, 2024 - Mike Hakob

Each form on your website acts as a bridge for communication between your business and your potential clients. When form entries go unsubmitted, it’s as if you’re turning away prospective customers and the income they could bring.

Studies indicate that over two-thirds of your site’s visitors exit without completing their intended actions. My experience in Content Marketing has shown me, time and again, that for every issue, there’s a solution and it’s only up to you to act on it.

Let’s explore how you can integrate FormStory with your Wix website. This will help you, prevent losing customers due to form errors, partial entries, and other technical glitches.

How to Set Up FormStory in 3 Steps

Step N1: Log into your FormStory account and enter the URL containing the form you want to track. If you don’t have an account, sign up using your Google account or create a new one by clicking “Create Account”.

How to Embed Tracking Script to Your Wix Website Header Code

Wix allows you to Embed custom code snippets to the head or body of your site’s pages to verify site ownership, monitor your site’s traffic, track user activity, and measure the success of your campaigns.

It’s worth noting that Wix doesn’t provide any support for technical issues with third-party codes and scripts. So in case of any errors always reach out to the third-party company.

To embed FormStory’s script to your Wix website you need to:

  • Navigate to your site’s dashboard settings.
  • Access the ‘Custom Code’ section, which is located within the ‘Advanced’ area.
  • At the top right corner, select ‘+ New Custom Code’.
  • Insert your given script into the provided textbox.
  • Label your code with a descriptive name for easy identification in the future. (e.g. FormStory Tracking)

Decide where to apply your code by selecting from the ‘Add Code to Pages’ options:

To apply the code across all pages of your site, including future pages, select ‘All pages’. You’ll also have the option to load the code just once per visit or every time a page is accessed.

In our case, you can select the page your form is located on and choose the option to load the page every time the page is accessed.

For specific pages, pick ‘Choose specific pages’ and then select the pages from the drop-down menu. (Make sure to select the page that includes the form you want to track)

Determine the placement of your code by choosing under ‘Place Code in’:

  • Head (The option you need to choose)
  • Body – start
  • Body – end

Finalize your settings by clicking ‘Apply’.

You’re now fully equipped to monitor your forms, capture essential data, and optimize your site’s engagement. Happy tracking!
